JOB DESCRITION
- Interpret medical information such as symptoms
or disease , and diagnostic descriptions and procedures for a given visit
in order to accurately assign and sequence the correct ICD, CPT and
modifiers.
- Medical coders are responsible in making the
assigned codes meet all federal, legal and insurance regulations so
service payments are obtained in a timely fashion.
- Coding professionals mostly have the task of
organizing, compiling and translating the medical treatment information
recorded by doctors. This could include information about symptoms,
observations, treatment procedures, treatment outcomes, medical history
etc.
- Checking medical charts for completion and accuracy
- Verifying signatures and medical data in systems.
- Clarifying information or diagnosis by
communicating with healthcare providers Utilizing systems software to analyze
data.
- Reviews newsletters, bulletins, and
periodicals, and attends workshops to stay abreast of current issues,
trends, and changes in the laws and regulations governing medical record
coding and documentation.
- Develop and updates procedures manuals to

abuse, and optimize revenue recovery.
